We believe recyclable single-use plastics belong in higher-value products. In a circular plastics system, there is no need for landfill.

We’ve been cooking up something oh-so-exciting and we just can’t wait to share it with you!

Since 2021, from humble beginnings in a shipping container, we’ve collected over 17 million single-use plastic items destined for the dump.

We meticulously (and manually) sorted and segregated the rescued items by polymer type and so far, we’ve recycled and reprocessed 60,000kg of plastic!

In 2024, we’re scaling up again and looking to collaborate with big brands and businesses ready to embrace the circular plastics economy.

If you’re ready to put your supply chain under the microscope to explore and embrace designing out, waste. And uncovering opportunities for reuse, recovery and recycling to create new commercial value and reduce your environmental impact; you should get in touch.

It’s the same Great Plastic Rescue with a new challenge!

Borne from our passion to turn the tide on plastic waste and pollution to keep valuable resources from landfill we set out to rescue banned single-use plastic that was destined for the dump. We were over the moon with the first three million items we rescued (even though 1,940kg of plastic nearly broke us!). Little did we know that in 2022 thousands more rescue heroes would answer our “amnesty” call through our NSW EPA Sustainability Partnersgip and nation-wide corporate-backed campaigns. Every day we pinch ourselves! Our initially ambitious goal of 10,000kg quickly turned into 100,000kg.

To date, we’ve rescued and recycled approximately 17 million items and given 60,000kg of landfill-destined plastics a new, higher-value, longer life.

In 2023 we’re pleased to report that the conversation around plastic has significantly shifted, and more businesses are asking – now what? So we’ve been working on how we scale and refine our solution to support the “coalition of the willing” who want to design out, reuse and recycle larger volumes of plastic.

We’re now inviting ambitious and committed brands who are ready to collaborate to get in-touch to develop innovative solutions for examining and addressing plastics in their supply chain, through our bespoke circular design solutions.

When leaders start to do things, everyone will follow.

We’re all about getting sh*t done. So you didn’t think we’d just be “telling” people what to do, did you? We’re so committed to demonstrating what can be achieved through value-chain collaboration and circularity, that we’re walking the talk…

While, we’re not quite ready for the grand reveal, we’re really excited to show our supporters and partners what has happened with some of the plastic collected through Great Plastic Rescue.

If you want to be the first to know, and potentially the first in-line for something extra special when we are ready to lift the covers, register your details here. We might even give you a sneak peek just for registering!

Why Circularity?

Diverting recyclable plastic from landfill for remanufacturing is only one piece of the puzzle. Creating a truly circular economy starts with designing out waste and pollution while utilising existing materials and resources already in the system. Embracing circularity is a fundamental pathway to decarbonise supply chains and achieve a Net Zero economy.

We believe it can be done and we’re here to support businesses who think the same.
